When you feel like time is out of your control, life feels chaotic and stressful. By doing these 5 things, you can recruit time as your ally and achieve more productivity and balance each day:
1. Talk about time in a positive way
When you say, “I’m too busy” or “There isn’t enough time” — you are putting out energy that contracts your time. It influences your perspective on time and becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Instead talk about the abundance of time you have, and be grateful for your time.
2. Go to bed and get up early
Get your full 8 hours. Ben Franklin was right: “Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a person healthy, wealthy and wise.”
Not a natural early riser? Me neither — but I have been making myself go to bed and get up early and I am much more productive because of it.
3. Plan your days
Planning your day, either the night before or first thing the morning, saves you time by helping you stay on task. It also allows you to download all the thoughts going through your head about everything that needs to be done. This alleviates mental chaos so you can be more focused and productive.
4. Keep your time-wasters under control
This could be social media, reading fluff, playing games, etc. These aren’t necessarily “bad” activities, that is, unless they are used to procrastinate and neglect more productive ones.
5. Do your self-care
If you are not taking time to love and nurture yourself, then time won’t value you either. Think of all the time wasted by illness or fatigue because we neglected our self-care. Doing your self-care expands your time by giving you the mindset and energy to be productive.
